With a lifelong interest in people, I had built a successful career in customer service, developing both my communication skills and my natural empathy with people from all walks of life, but was personal experience of hypnotherapy that first sparked my interest in retraining in the powerful therapy.
Many of the training courses I explored, offered the chance to train in hypnotherapy combined with neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). This therapy was new to me, but after a short taster course, I knew that this was something that I wanted to investigate further. The course was amazing and helped me to appreciate how much our thoughts, language and behaviour create our world. What’s more, I learnt how small adjustments in the way we think, speak and behave can help us to overcome specific problems and improve the quality of our life.
With firsthand experience of how valuable and successful hypnotherapy and NLP can be in changing lives for the better, I retrained so that I could use these techniques to help others. Moving a step further on I have now trained as an instructor in Relaxation, Meditation and Mindfulness, using the basic principles learned in all my teachings I have put together a series of guided meditations, each one created to help you enjoy life.
The Guided Meditations use a combination of NLP and hypnosis techniques, it is important to know that these cannot change physiological defects or cure disease, however, they are able to assist you in managing symptoms, medication side effects and give you a more positive outlook. It is widely respected in the medical world that a positive outlook can greatly aid recovery.

There are many misconceptions about hypnotherapy largely brought about from thoughts and knowledge of stage hypnosis. Although they use the same principles the practices are vastly different.
You will probably have already experienced a hypnotic state without realising it. Have you ever been so lost in your thoughts that you didn’t hear someone speaking to you? Or been driving along and not remembered part of the journey? If you have then you were in a self hypnotic state or trance. One of my tutors, John Cassidy-Rice, put it best “every time you go inside your head you are in a trance”.
Hypnotherapy is a very relaxing experience, initially a consultation will tell me where you are with your issue so I can decide the best course of action. There are five stages to hypnosis, first I will talk to you easing you into feeling relaxed and comfortable, then I will deepen your relaxation until you are in a trance state, similar to the feeling you get just before you go to sleep or just as you are waking up. Once you have reached the required state I will talk to you in relation to your specific issue giving your unconscious mind something new to think about and process. After this I will offer suggestions direct to the unconscious mind, again this will be processed. Lastly I will bring you out of the trance and you will feel refreshed and ready to continue with your day.
During a hypnosis session you will be fully conscious and in control at all times.
NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming and is a series of exercises which were developed in the 1970’s by John Grinder and Richard Bandler. The basics of NLP is to make you look at things and think in a different way in order to create different feelings towards them.
Your unconscious mind does not recognise the difference between want and don’t want, like and don’t like etc. and will guide you towards your thoughts. If you think “I don’t want to bite my nails” all it will hear is “bite my nails”,
so NLP teaches you to think about what you want, not what you don’t want, you will start to think about your aim and turn your thoughts to “I have beautiful nails”.
Also it will take your thoughts literally, if you say “I’ll do that tomorrow” the chances are you wont, you mind will always think ‘tomorrow’ and we all know that tomorrow never comes. NLP teaches you to think in specific terms “I’ll do that on Thursday”.
In short NLP is about creating a positivity about yourself and your attitude to enable you to Love Your life.
Before commencing any sudden lifestyle and eating changes it is recommended that you consult with your doctor or practice nurse. This is particularly advised if you have any health issues or are taking long term medication.
